Send through Customer.io
JustAI sends journey email, SMS, push, and in-app messages through your own Customer.io workspace. JustAI decides who gets which message and prepares the content. One Customer.io automation on the connection sends every channel. Customer.io delivers it from your sender and applies Customer.io’s subscription preferences.
You connect each workspace once, then add a sending profile for each channel.
How a send works
Section titled “How a send works”When a journey sends through Customer.io:
- JustAI prepares the message for that person.
- JustAI starts the connection’s automation for that person. Customer.io finds the person by the same ID you send JustAI.
- The automation fetches the prepared content from JustAI and sends it on the profile’s channel.
- A reporting webhook sends delivery and engagement events back to JustAI.
Customer.io does not send customer profiles into JustAI. Send profiles from your data source, using the same person ID the workspace already uses. Confirm that ID with your JustAI team before the first send.
What the connection sets up

| App API key | Lets JustAI read the workspace, including whether reporting is set up. Create it in Customer.io and name it JustAI. |
| Track credentials | A Site ID and Tracking API key, from a Track API key named JustAI, so JustAI can start the automation for each person. |
| Reporting webhook | A Customer.io webhook named JustAI that reports delivery and engagement back to JustAI. |
| Delivery automation | The campaign automation every sending profile on this connection uses. With a service account token, JustAI builds it. |
| Sending profiles | One profile per channel, with the sender for that channel. You verify email with a test message. |
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- You can create API credentials, reporting webhooks, and automations in the Customer.io workspace you send from, or an admin there can create a service account for you.
- The account menu in JustAI shows the environment that will send. The connection belongs to that environment.
- You know the person ID Customer.io uses, and your data source can send that same ID on each customer profile.
