Connect Customer.io

Add a connection for the Customer.io workspace that sends your journeys. The connection page lists the steps under Connection and reporting. Finish them in order. Each step stays locked until the account name is saved, and later steps say what they still need.

  • The account menu in JustAI shows the environment that will send.
  • You can open API credentials and reporting webhooks in the Customer.io workspace. If you cannot create a service account, ask a Customer.io account admin to create one with permission to edit automations.
  1. In JustAI, open the account menu at the bottom of the left sidebar and select Settings.

    Settings opens on Integrations.

  2. Select Add, then Customer.io.

  3. In Account name, enter a name that identifies the workspace, for example Customer.io marketing.

    Select Save account name.

  4. Open the Connect account step. In Customer.io, create an App API key named JustAI.

Use the Customer.io API credentials link on the step. Paste the key into App API key and select Save App API key.

JustAI uses this key to recognize the workspace and its data region. Create the key in the workspace you send from.

  5. Open Allow JustAI to start messages. In Customer.io, create a Track API key named JustAI.

Paste the Site ID and Tracking API key from that same row, then select Save Track credentials. Enter both. JustAI can’t save one without the other.

  6. Open Set up delivery reporting. In Customer.io, add a reporting webhook named JustAI, or select the webhook that already belongs to this connection.

Copy the Webhook endpoint from JustAI into the webhook’s endpoint field. Select Email events and Customer events, and also SMS events, Push events, and In-App events for each channel this connection sends. Save the webhook in Customer.io.

  7. Reopen the webhook, copy its Signing key, paste it into JustAI, and save it on the step.

The step lists Reporting address, Reporting turned on, and Events selected. Select Check again after you change the webhook. Fix any row that still names a missing event or says the endpoint doesn’t match.

  8. Open Build the delivery automation. In Customer.io, create a service account with permission to edit automations.

Paste its token into Service account token and save it. JustAI builds the automation that every sending profile on this connection uses. If Customer.io has no Create Service Account button, ask your Customer.io account admin to create the account for you.

After the App API key is saved, the connection lists what it still needs. Fix any row marked Needs fixing before you create a sending profile. One of those rows is the content access key on the automation’s fetch step. If Customer.io reaches JustAI with a missing or invalid key, update that fetch step so it sends this connection’s content access key.

  • Connect account is saved.
  • Allow JustAI to start messages is saved.
  • Set up delivery reporting shows reporting as active, or waiting for a first event, and its three checks pass.
  • Build the delivery automation is saved, and JustAI has built the automation.
